me project

For my first animation of the course was based on the brief a self portrait of yourself. For this i had to show my personatly , information about my life , my likes and dislikes and anything else you felt should be placed in this animation. As this was my first animation i kept as basic as i could. by using text and cut out letters like a Jamie Reid design. This came from the style of my sketch book. For the animation i showed facts about my life for example my family and home town Edinburgh, also show how i felt moving to Manchester and how i feel about my self. and also showed the things i like for example Hearts Fc and Music and things i hate like Johnny Borrel and Rangers fc.

For the sound i deciced to records random sound from my house. For this i used pots and pans top get a kinda Crash , Bang, Crackle sounds. By the end of the animation i found out i really messed thing up and in the end had had to wait about 6 hours to conpress and lost all the sound. i also realised that the animation itself wasnt the greatest.

With also these problems i was still pleased with this as it was my first ever animation. With all the problems i cant learn from them

Snatch

This is one of my all time favorite films of all time. Snatch which was made in 2000 directed by Guy Ritchie. The Film based on diamond which has been stolen. This diamond links up a variety of different Characters from Gangsters , Boxing Promoter and Pikeys. which with a different story of their own. This Film is so successful because of these Characters. you have "Turkish" (played by Jason Statham ) a boxing promoter and his sidekick "Tommy" ( played by Stephen Graham) and the along with the pikey boxer " Mickey" ( Played by Brad Pitt) all play a comedy part in the film. Each of them getting into different situations. On the other side you have the rival boxer promoter/ Gangster "Brick Top " (played by Alan Ford) who plays the villain of the film. Brick top is so well acted making him one of the scariest villains in British film.
This is a big Achievement for Guy Ritchie and Matthew Vaughan. after their very successful debut " Lock stock 'n' two smoking barrels"in 1998 which sparked life into British films.

caricatures

Caricatures are cartoon drawings of often celebrates. but making their facial features more noticable for example Prince Charles is often used and its his nose and ears which are often used. I first got intrested in caricatures when i went on a fmaily hoilday to Salou in Spain were dozens of different street artist were spread all the street using their Talents of drawing Caricatures and drawing the public for a small amount of money. After seening this. i tryed to my very own. i found how dificult it was to do this. The artists in Salou would drawing them in under 10 mintues.

Here is two Caricatures that I've done myself. first is ex- Hearts Capitan Steven Pressley and the second is Noel Fielding from the television comedy The Mighty Boosh

Hacienda at the Urbis

Being a big fan of music and many of the bands that i like and were inspirated by the whole madchester culture. the Hacienda was one of the most famous clubs and venue for these acts. so when i heard that the Urbis were holding a exhibit on the cuture and story of the rise and fall of the Hacienda i deciced to go for a vist. What i really enjoyed about the exhibit. it showed all the events which were held in the venue withs videos , photos and posters and handouts from them. this was very helpful for the course as the hacienda's graphic designs were very iconic. The Hacienda exbition also told the tales of the creator Tony wilson along with the bands like New Order and the Happy monday that were also a big part of it. The exhibition also tell about the bad times that happened from the gang culture to the closure in 1997. This exhibition is for any music fan and the Madchester culture.
